About Magenda

About the Project

MAGENDA – Mainstreaming Gender Equality in Academia – is a collaborative project funded under the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education initiative. It aims to embed gender equality policies and practices within higher education institutions (HEIs) in Bangladesh and Nepal. Despite increased female enrolment, gender disparities remain particularly in academic leadership, STEM disciplines, and institutional governance. MAGENDA responds to these challenges by promoting structural change through the creation and implementation of Gender Equality Plans (GEPs).

Over 36 months, MAGENDA will engage six Asian HEIs and four European partners in fostering inclusive policies, training academic staff, raising student awareness, and promoting synergies with civil society and national stakeholders. The project’s holistic approach addresses institutional, societal, and policy-level barriers to ensure lasting impact and sustainability.
