About the Project
MAGENDA is an ambitious international initiative designed to advance gender equality in higher education institutions across Nepal and Bangladesh. Both countries have made significant strides in promoting access to education for women and girls, with increasing enrolment figures and policy frameworks that support inclusive development. MAGENDA builds upon these national efforts by offering a structured, collaborative pathway to deepen gender-responsive governance within universities.
Through the establishment and implementation of Gender Equality Plans (GEPs), MAGENDA supports institutional transformation tailored to the local context. The project enhances existing strengths by training academic and administrative staff, empowering students through a digital knowledge hub, and encouraging their active participation as ambassadors of change. By engaging civil society and policymakers, MAGENDA ensures a broader impact that extends beyond academia into community and national policy spheres.
With six universities from Nepal and Bangladesh working alongside partners from Belgium and Greece, MAGENDA fosters an international exchange of expertise and innovation. The project ultimately aims to position South Asian higher education institutions as regional exemplars in embedding equality, inclusion, and sustainable development in academic life.
